KSU and NCAA GREAT Laurie Koehn is a Class Act!!!!!!
Our Lady Cougars received a rare and incredible treat in getting to meet and be coached by the KSU, Big 12 and NCAA Career Leader in 3 pointers made at 392 in KSU Legend Laurie Koehn. Laurie took time out of her busy schedule to help work the KSU Team Camp and to spend time mentoring kids from all schools and sharing her incredible knowledge, experiences and work out drills in order to make all the kids better!
Here Laurie is teaching our own Anna King some nifty pivot moves to help enhance her game.
KSU Camp a HUGE Success
3 teams of Lady Cougars descended upon Manhattan Kansas the weekend of June 18 through the 20th to attend and compete in the KSU Wildcat Basketball Team Camp! It was a fantastic experience for our girls as all three squads worked hard, got better and picked up a few wins along the way! It was great to see so many SMNW Lady Cougars working hard to improve their game, bond as a team and have fun doing it. If you are not participating in our summer activities you are truly missing out and falling behind!

Q) Describe your style of basketball.
A) Hard nose, tough, intense, gritty man to man defense, controlling the paint and the boards. Out working, out toughing, out hustling everyone!
Q) UConn or Tennessee?
A) Tennessee of course!!!!!
Q) What type of hobbies do you have?
A) I like reading, movies, video games, sports of all kinds, and chasing our little one around the house.
Q) What’s your favorite quote?
A) “You have to learn the value of Hard Work and what it means. Work becomes something that is NOT negative. It s just what you do.”
Q) When did you start playing basketball?
A) When I was just a little guy. Clear back in grade school

LADY COUGARS FINISH WITH A 5-16 RECORD
The Lady Cougars ended their season with a hard-fought loss against SME in the first round of sub-state. The Lady Cougars battled throughout the night and came up 10 points short of the upset.
The Lady Cougars finished the season with a 5-16 record, an improvement on last year's season (2-19). Northwest loses two key seniors, but will return a deep lineup of experienced players.
SARAH SCHMIDT & ERICA BRAND EARN THEIR BLACKSHIRTS
Sophomore, Sarah Schmidt and Senior, Erica Brand earned their Defensive Blackshirt this past week! This is the highest honor a Lady Cougar Basketball player can achieve. In order for a player to earn a blackshirt they must be dedicated to DEFENSE. Points can be earned during practice or a game. Points are earned by taking charges, defensive hustle plays, and diving on the floor for loose balls.
